Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Stock Transport Order and Transfer Posting?
Stock Transport Order is used to move materials between two plants (inter-plant) using transportation methods, requiring a shipping document. Transfer Posting is simpler (within same plant or extended between plants) using 301/302 movement types.
What is Price Control 'V' vs 'S'?
'V' stands for Moving Average Price. The price is recalculated with every goods receipt. 'S' stands for Standard Price. The price is fixed manually and any variance is posted to a price difference account.
What is MRP in SAP MM?
Material Requirements Planning (MRP) is a tool used to calculate material requirements for procurement or production. It ensures that materials are available for production/delivery on time based on sales orders and reservations.
Is SAP MM a technical or functional module?
SAP MM is a Functional module. It does not require coding knowledge like ABAP. It requires understanding of business processes in Procurement and Inventory Management.
What is the Procurement Cycle?
The cycle includes: 1) Determination of Requirement (PR), 2) Determination of Source (Vendor), 3) Selection of Vendor, 4) Order Processing (PO), 5) Monitoring of Order Follow-up, 6) Goods Receipt, 7) Invoice Verification.
