Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between 3D Wireframes and 3D Solids?
3D Wireframes show only the edges of a shape (skeleton). 3D Solids have mass, volume, and can be assigned materials for rendering. AutoCAD primarily works with Solids.
What is UCS (User Coordinate System)?
UCS allows you to move the origin (0,0,0) to any location to make drawing specific faces or angles easier. We teach 3-point UCS and World UCS in detail.
Can I import 2D drawings into AutoCAD 3D?
Yes. You can import 2D plans and use 'Extrude' or 'Presspull' to instantly convert them into 3D walls or objects.
Do I need a high-end PC for Rendering?
It depends on the scene complexity. AutoCAD 3D renders CPU-based. We recommend a decent multi-core processor for faster render times, but basic rendering is possible on standard machines.
Is AutoCAD 3D different from 3ds Max?
Yes. 3ds Max is for high-end animation and movies. AutoCAD 3D is more for engineering accuracy and product design, often used alongside mechanical CAD workflows.
